Hockey New Brunswick Scholarships
HNB Scholarship applications will be considered for all the HNB scholarships, provided the applicant
meets the criteria listed below. *Only one complete application per candidate is required
Criteria to apply for an HNB Scholarship:
• Applicant must have been a Hockey New Brunswick member or associate member in the 2023-2024
hockey season (HNB player, NBIAA player or HNB Official).
• Applicant must be under the age of 21 as of December 31st of the current season.
• Applicant must be graduating or must be a graduate who is pursuing post-secondary studies in 2024-
2025.
Application Requirements:
• Application must have all the following requirements to be considered:
o Provide a record of their current academic transcript for high school (Grades 10-12 inclusive) or
University.
o Provide post-secondary education acceptance letter.
o Provide an athletic resumé (brief outline sports involvement by year).
o Provide letter of recommendation (maximum 200 words) from a former coach or HNB official:
▪ the reasons why they have supported the candidate.
▪ how they know the candidate, and for how long.
o Provide a photo (of your choice).
o Provide a 300 to 500-word essay (double-spaced) outlining the following:
▪ Intended Academic Major(s) / Area of study.
▪ Explain how hockey has impacted their life.
▪ Community activities outside of sport (volunteer, community or public service activities +
# of hours volunteered.
▪ Employment history (paid jobs, internships, practicums).
▪ Awards or honors received.
▪ Financial need
